Best 49er bar in town, amazing food, friendly bartenders, and great beers. It feels like I'm at the game. Its going to be my new Sunday football place to catch the game.!!!

My husband and I frequented the SF saloon after our weekly softball game - what a great place for burgers and beers. It's still a great place for the same. Very popular during happy hour and the noise level increases accordingly so if you're looking for an intimate venue, this might not be it. Street parking or tandem parking in a nearby lot that has an attendant - fun place.

I'm not sure I want to boast about this place, because it gets pretty crowded already. But the place does serve really great burgers and sandwiches. And the service is exemplary, too. But it does take a while for the food to come out of the kitchen on a busy day.
Go on an afternoon when there's no big game drawing a big crowd, and enjoy!

This is one of the insufferable bartenders from the San Francisco Saloon here.. thanks to the poster below for defending the place against the bitter and vitriolic review that came before. In case anyone has bothered to read that guy's review, I figured I had better fill in some details that he omitted.

The idiot that wrote that stupid post was kicked out of the bar that night, by me. Why? He said something to a waitress as she was standing next to him. A few moments before that, she had been in conversation with two of our regulars, who happen to be black. She said "excuse me?" to the guy, since she had not heard what he had said to her. He replied "maybe if I were BLACK you'd talk to me." When she said "pardon me?" he said "maybe if I were BLACK you'd be impressed." The waitress told him that he was being rude and offensive, and not to talk to her anymore. She then told me what happened, and I started to keep an eye on him. The next time she went near him, I saw him say something to her, and I could tell by her expression that she was quite irritated and did not want to hear any more from this guy, who at this point was antagonizing and annoying her for his own pleasure. At that point, I went over, dumped his drink, gave him his check, and told him to leave.

Funny how those details escape his post, which he had the nerve to print and send to the owner. Of course the owner never got it, but all the employees had a great laugh over it.

Anyone that has been to the San Francisco Saloon knows that the food is great (almost always), the beer is cold and the drinks are strong. Yeah, sometimes the service is a little slow, sometimes you might get your food after someone who ordered 10 minutes after you, but one thing we are not is unfriendly. Quite the opposite.

Anyway, ignore the posts of bitter dickheads who get 86'd from good places and come in.
